Who is Yimes?
Yimes is the ambient production duo of Andrew Taetz and John Hanson. Formed in 2021, the project began with a shared vision to create healing, New Age–inspired music rooted in atmosphere, texture, and emotional depth. Bridging their creative communities in the Bay Area and Detroit, Yimes weaves together organic instrumentation, ambient soundscapes, and cinematic composition.
Since their debut, the project has continued to evolve—expanding into a more defined language of ambient folk and modern composition, where guitar, piano, strings, and subtle rhythmic elements move with patience and clarity. Recent releases, including tracks from their forthcoming album YY, explore the intersection of nature, memory, and human experience, often accompanied by analog film work that reflects the same sense of place and texture.
Featuring collaborators such as Theo Katzman and Pat Sansone, and with production contributions from Beau Sorenson, Yimes continues to refine a sound that is both grounded and transportive—music that invites stillness while quietly unfolding into something expansive.
